Bachelor's and Master's Theses

Master theses

The Competence Center for Social Innovation under the direction of Prof. Dr. Dirk Lehmkuhl currently offers the following master thesis topics:

Topic 1: Capacity Building for Grand Challenges

Whether we are talking about "Wicked Problems," "Grand Challenges," or the UN Sustainable Development Goals, we agree that we cannot solve any of these challenges on our own. The private sector has a critical role to play - so educational programs on transformation theory, sustainable development, or systemic change need to be offered at the executive education level.

The aim of this master thesis is to collect and analyze empirical data from executive education programs. We want to find out how different teaching methods (e.g. design thinking, action learning, experiential learning) can support our goal of preparing executives to tackle Grand Challenges in their organization.

The Center of Excellence for Social Innovation is looking for students who are interested in addressing Grand Challenges and want to conduct empirical research. Various questions as well as our internal programs are available as possible cases. We understand the process as collaborative and are happy to provide advice and support. The research design and implementation are therefore not top-down, but require a lot of initiative and intrinsic motivation from the students.

Are you interested?

Then we look forward to hearing from you. Please send your application (short letter of motivation, CV) as well as any questions you may have about the advertised position to: rachel.brooks@unisg.ch.
